The Boardwalk Cafe The Grand Pier, WsM

In early 2017 it was agreed that the Pier's Boardwalk Cafe was in need of a facelift. Working with the Food & Beverage department managers, as well as the Pier's directors, we agreed to give the restaurant more of an "upmarket chip-shop" feel while still remaining an unpretentious family eatery.

I designed the big feature walls in a white-on-black chalkboard style, contrasting with brilliant blue and a flash of bright yellow. I researched and designed a timeline running through the design, a history of Fish & Chips which engages customers and reflects the culture and history of Weston as a working-class seaside resort. Another element is a free-standing island in the centre of the space, for which I designed a "Fish Map of the World".
